Adoption, Disabilities. More.

I always thought about adoption. The idea of a child that has no family breaks my heart. Since working at the Center, and dealing with DCFS, has really turned me away from wanting to deal with that. When one of the kids was in the hospital and fighting for her life, I found information about Trisomy 18 to help me cope and understand the death process of a child. Well she pulled through, but that taught me so much about God's plans for us. Each of us has a time on this Earth, and then we go home. From a blog where a child was dying, linked a blog for a family that adopted two children from the Ukraine, and they chose them because they had Down's Syndrome. Daily, I deal with the children whose families are not able to care for them. Sometimes I forget what is normal, and need to remember that there are children with disabilities that can live at home.

I get so mad when Illinois doesn't provide services for the children how they should. I dream of making each of the children a personalized room that has all their stuff and it is safe and they can get to it when they want it. I know that their needs are met, and each is well loved, but I want so much more for them.

Well below is a link inside some institutions of Serbia. I am saddened, but not shocked by this. And don't be surprised, if there are places like this in America. Just because we are a rich country, doesn't mean that we put that money to those in need.
